United Parcel Service (UPS) is the world's largest package delivery service and a global leader in logistics, serving customers in more than 220 countries and territories. The company moves goods across a vast delivery and transportation network, working in package delivery, logistics and supply chain management. It was founded in 1907 in a Seattle, Washington basement by two teenage entrepreneurs with a $100 loan.

The scale of that operation is reflected in its workforce. UPS employs more than 400,000 people in the United States alone, of whom 330,000 are represented by the Teamsters. Delivery drivers earn average total compensation of $145,000-$172,000. Benefits include $0-premium healthcare, defined-benefit pensions and up to seven weeks of paid vacation.

UPS describes an emphasis on promoting from within, with hourly positions turned into long-term careers. Some 18,000 current management team members began in union positions. The company has invested $742 million in tuition assistance, allowing part-time employees to earn degrees without student debt.
