Gateway Terminal

Gateway Terminal is a bulk terminal operator in the Port of New Haven, Connecticut, handling dry bulk, liquid bulk and breakbulk cargo with ship, barge, truck and rail access.

Gateway Terminal is a bulk terminal operator based in the Port of New Haven, Connecticut, providing turnkey, vertically-integrated logistics services for dry bulk, liquid bulk and breakbulk products. Founded in 1985, the company has more than 35 years of operation behind it and describes itself as the only independent, privately owned marine terminal in Connecticut.

The terminal runs two cargo divisions. Its dry bulk division handles transshipment and handling of dry bulk commodities, and its liquid bulk division handles liquid bulk products; both have been rebuilt and expanded through continued development. Breakbulk products are handled alongside these cargoes. The operation supports multimodal door-to-door cargo movement, drawing on ship, barge, truck and rail capabilities at a single port - one of the few operations in New England to combine all four modes.

Gateway Terminal also holds a Foreign Trade Zone designation, offering opportunities for companies engaged in international trade. The company serves customers across the Northeast United States, New England and the U.S. East Coast, and states that it is one of the most efficient and economical terminal operators in the Northeast region. Technical work at the site spans bulk material handling, marine terminal operations, multimodal logistics and dry and liquid bulk transshipment.
