Pioneer Resources is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides disability and senior services across Muskegon and Ottawa counties on the Michigan lakeshore. Founded in 1949 as Pioneer School, an association of parents and educators, the organisation has operated for more than 75 years and is accredited through CARF International.
Transportation is a core part of its operations. The organisation runs what it describes as one of the largest transportation fleets on the lakeshore, providing specialised transport services under its "a way to get there" service pillar. The fleet supports clients across a service portfolio organised into four pillars: a place to live (supported, specialised and low income housing), a place to learn (vocational training, employment services, ABA therapy and community living supports), a place to grow and play (recreational programmes and camps), and transportation.
Services are delivered to people with disabilities and to seniors, and the organisation receives referrals from HealthWest and local Community Mental Health agencies. It relies on community support and donations to fund its work.
