Thompson River Lumber
Family owned sawmill in Thompson Falls, Montana, founded in 1993, processing five timber species into lumber, boards and industrial products, shipped nationwide by rail and truck.
Thompson River Lumber is a family owned and operated sawmill in Thompson Falls, in northwestern Montana, at the confluence of the Thompson River and the Clark Fork River. Founded in 1993 by Roger Claridge, who brought many years of local industry experience to the business, the mill is run on a day-to-day basis by president Dan Claridge. It is the second largest employer in Sanders County.
The mill processes timber from five different species into dimensional lumber, boards, industrial products and specialty items; finished boards carry the company's logo on their paperwrap. Wood fibre residuals from the operation are supplied to other businesses in the wood fibre industry. Products are shipped nationwide by rail and truck, making logistics a core part of the operation alongside sawmilling and lumber processing.
Thompson River Lumber works across the lumber and sawmilling, forestry and timber, wood fibre and building materials industries. The company describes its culture as family owned and operated, and states that it contributes to sustaining employment across the regional economy.
